As a kid, waiting is not much fun…. wait until 6am to open Christmas presents; wait to drive until you are 16; wait to get a job. Honestly, waiting in my adulthood has not gotten any easier. Isn’t it amazing the feeling you can get in your whole body while you are waiting – anxiety, nervousness, upset stomach, your mind running through a hundred thoughts a second. But of course we all know that “good things come to those who wait,” right? That statement is the best… if you are not the one waiting.
This Sunday we will enter into the Season of Advent with all others who call on the name Jesus as Savior and Lord. For the next month the entire church in the earth is together in waiting and anticipating His coming. What if waiting is not simply a good spiritual discipline, but is actually something that God is doing to take us to the end of our constant striving and to help us discover new life? Christ has come and He will come; waiting teaches us to see how Christ is coming in our day to day.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving with family and friends, and we will see you on Sunday.
