Community Compassion 2017

community compassion benevolence offering help others

Each year we set aside the weeks in November and December to receive our Community Compassion Offering that enables us to show compassion to many people within our own congregation and in our broader community. This offering also allows us to partner with agencies in our community who specialize in meeting the needs of people in our city.

The church office gets several calls for help every week.  Because of your faithfulness to give to this offering, our church gets to represent you and respond and touch people’s lives.  We get to say, “We notice you. We see you. You have dignity.”  Sometimes we respond with an affirmation, a prayer, and a kind word. Other times we respond with financial assistance. Often, we offer a referral to a partner agency who is more qualified to meet their need.

Whether it is financial giving or volunteering, every little bit makes a difference. We encourage you during Community Compassion this year to ask Him: “What would you have me give and would you open my eyes to notice those that I should not just pass by?”

We will have agencies we partner with in our main foyer Sundays, November 12 and 19 for us as a church to learn more about what we can be doing to help our community. More information about the agencies we partner with can be found here. Another way we can help is by donating financially.
