Facts about Burundi

  • The vast majority of Burundi’s population is Hutu, traditionally a farming people.
  • Burundi is home to the world’s longest freshwater lake, Lake Tanganyika.
  • Its hospitality is legendary, as are its coffee and tea. However, Burundi’s most notable asset is its abundance of national parks and reserves.

A message from CF Associate Pastor Jean Claude Ntimpa

With a warm heart full of gratitude…
Is my pleasure to be with my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus from CFC Family to serve together. It is a privilege to carry a “love basket” from CFC back home to CMFB.  I give thanks to Almighty God, my church leaders, my queen Judith, our mighty team “2024 Burundi Mission Team,” church members and all supporters.

Pastor Jean Claude & Pastor Oscar – Their Story

When war in Burundi forced Pastor Oscar and Pastor Jean Claude to flee, they ministered together in the refugee camps of Tanzania. After the war Jean Claude resettled to the USA and Oscar was repatriated to Burundi. The families have continued their friendship since the separation.

Pastor Oscar oversees Christian Mission Fellowship Church Burundi, which is comprised of 14 branches, throughout 4 provinces. Each branch has its own local leaders and serves the unique community of each locale:

  • Tailoring & Furniture Making
  • Cattle Farming
  • Beekeeping, Agriculture
  • Soap Making
  • Oil Palm Processing

Team Objectives

The primary purpose of the trip is to deepen our relationship with Christian Mission Fellowship Church Burundi.

Our plan is simple: spend time with Pastor Oscar, other leaders, and the churches themselves to hear their stories and to share ours.

Since October 2021, the church has been running a health center called Centre De Sante Pamoja. It is the only source of healthcare for all those in the surrounding area. CDS Pamoja serves primarily those who were living in refugee camps and have limited or no income.

Judith, who is a nurse, we will be leading us as we come alongside the staff to help out in any way we can.

  • Health care for adults and children
  • Prenatal, maternity and post-natal care
  • Vaccination

A “bridge” is needed to improve access to CDS Pamoja. We will be helping the local community to build one.

For many years Jean Claude and his family have been supporting children with physical disabilities at the Centre pour persones Hadicapees de Kanyinya. The Center provides physical therapy and schooling to children, regardless of their background. Jean Claude & Judith provided 40 pairs of crutches, school entry fees for a university student, and spinal surgery for a young girl. We will be visiting the center again in 2024 to meet, encourage, and play with the children who are served by this important ministry.

Burundi Mission Trip 2024 – Prayer Bulletin                             Christian Fellowship Church

This week’s focus is praise and thanksgiving. Please read and meditate on the following scriptures as you prepare your heart for prayer.

  1. 1 Chronicles 16:34

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever.

  1. James 1:17

The sea is His, for He made it, and His hands formed the dry land.

  1. Isaiah 12:4-5

In that day you will say: “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim His name; make known among the nations what He has done, and proclaim that His name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, for He has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world.”
